Rob Barr is the Executive Director for the A Hero Foundation, co-founder of Hire A Hero and has worked with transitioning military for over 13 years.

Rob started his career working for Diamond Blade Warehouse (DBW) as the Sales Support Manager where he gained exorbitant knowledge of the construction industry. Outside of supporting sales Rob was in integral part of helping DBW transition from a paper system to modern day technology which helped build business processing for sales, credit and accounting departments which are still in use today.

In 2003 Rob took his knowledge of the construction industry and took a position as the Customer Relations Director for Helmets to Hardhats(H2H), a non-profit organization that helped veterans find careers within the construction industry. Rob’s helped build the business logic with technology to expand upon the different department he created to support those who were looking for work and those who had the career opportunities. Rob’s input helped H2H grow 400% each year helping the program gain national recognition.

In 2006 the Executive Director of HQ Group, Dan Caulfield, came to Rob with an opportunity to build Hire A Hero (HAH)  in which Rob took his knowledge from H2H to create a national media website to help US veterans and spouses to connect with employers looking to hire them, thus A Hero Foundation, 501 (c)(3) non profit, was born. Since launching in 2006 The Flagship program Hire A Hero has been recognized by both Time Magazine, for being one of the top 21 ways to “Fix America” and Infoworld Magazine as one of the top 100 websites in the world for creative and effective merging of business and technical solutions for veterans.

Today and  A Hero Foundation is working to build a one stop community to help veterans and their families, find the best resources to help them through transition and building more programs such as Staff A Hero and Educate A Hero to fill in gaps to what is currently offered to our heroes.

Rob has a bachelor’s degree in social work from Illinois State University and currently resides in Moraga, California with his wife and two children. In his spare time Rob likes to play guitar, sing and write music and from time to time you will see him playing a show or two in the San Francisco bay area.
